A record number of tourists in Mexico
Mexico attracts millions of tourists with its hospitality during the World Cup. Tourism Secretary Josefina Rodríguez said that between June 8 and July 19, 130,900 jobs were generated in Monterrey, Guadalajara, and Mexico City.
The average hotel occupancy rate was 66 percent, a 13 percent increase from the same period in 2025. On match days, this fluctuated between 85 and 90 percent.
A significant economic impact
The secretary reported an average increase of 51.5 percent in hotel tariffs, increases of 50 to 80 percent in food and beverage sales, and a 60 percent growth in the average consumption ticket per customer.
A positive legacy
The FIFA Fan Fest reported an attendance of over 6.7 million people at the three World Cup host cities. Mexico City and Monterrey concentrated two million 500 thousand each, while Guadalajara received one million 720 thousand.
Tourism Secretary Josefina Rodríguez highlighted that these results are the product of the joint effort of federal, state, and municipal authorities, as well as business chambers, associations, sector workers, and thousands of Mexicans who made the three host cities hospitable and competitive destinations.
A promising future
Mexico remains an attractive tourist destination, and its hospitality and traditions continue to be one of the main reasons to visit the country. Tourism Secretary Josefina Rodríguez emphasized that these results consolidate tourism as one of the main drivers of national development and demonstrate the country's ability to turn international events into opportunities for economic growth, job creation, and promotion of its destinations.
